We do not believe it’s an excellent concept. Towing isn’t a concern for electrical vehicle designers. Numerous designs now on the marketplace do not have 2 rankings and those that do can just pull lightweights. It makes good sense: electrical automobiles are aerodynamically slick, and including a trailer to one belongs to strapping a chute and ankle weights to a long-distance runner.
The Audi e-Tron has the greatest towing capability of the 11 cars in our EV of the Year test, at 4000 pounds, making it the perfect testbed for towing 3859 pounds of ski boat and trailer. We drove a 60- mile circle at the speed limitation–80 percent of it on a 70- miles per hour interstate– with and without the boat in tow, and the cars and truck tape-recorded double the intake with the skiff on its bumper, which was not unexpected. The variety is halved when the usage is doubled.
